The relative solvent accessibility of a amino acids refers to the degree to which the residues in the protein are exposed to the solvent in a solution, typically represented by a value between 0 and 1. A value closer to 1 indicates that the residue is more exposed to the solvent and easier for the solvent to access, while a value closer to 0 suggests that the residue is more buried within the protein and less accessible to the solvent.
Information about residue accessibilities is important for understanding the function and structure of protein. It is related to many properties. SolAcc predicts residue accessibility based on sequence information.

SolAcc was developed in collaboration between the groups of Prof. Mauno Vihinen in Lund University and Assoc. Prof. Yang Yang in Soochow University. You can also visit the mirror website in Soochow University, China.

Data sets

6000 sequences and some 140 million residues were used to train and 500 sequences were used for blind test. The data sets are freely available.
